Caves, jumps and kayaks

A cave in North East Mallorca

One of the best ways to explore Mallorca’s breathtaking coastline is of course from the water. Here a comparison with details of three of the best Mallorcan kayak tours. One in the furthest South-West point of the island (Sant Elm), one in the far North-West (Alcudia) and one in the North-East (Cala Bona).

Kayak Trip Mallorca (North East)

One of the more intimate kayak experiences. Great if you want to calmly explore the beautiful caves and hidden beaches that this part of the island has on offer.

They offer small groups only (max. 6 kayaks) which makes the whole experience feel very relaxing. It does not cover a great distance, but stops at many places.

We stopped at two different caves, one with a small beach inside where you could swim out through a smaller cave, and one very big cave that we also kayaked and snorkeled in. There was also a rockjump of about 5 meters high.

There was some nice snorkeling at a beautiful little spot that also gets used by a diving school. Fish on Mallorca don’t get too big near the coast but there were still many beautiful smaller fish to be seen. We had a break for a picnic with very nice local foods. Our guide Irene sent us around 60 photos after our trip, this one is our favorite on the island so far, relaxing, a lot of nature, we learned a bit about the island, the sea life and the coast. More of a relaxing than a sporty experience. We did the morning tour, but they also have a sunset tour. For more info click here

The Challenge (North West)

A great activity for when you are on holiday with a bigger group, a company outing, or a stag- and hen party. It is a treasure hunt game combined with kayaking.

We did not do this tour ourselves, but we had friends who went with their wedding party and they really enjoyed it. You basically search for clues and keys to open a box with a treasure that is hidden under the water.

It also has caves, snorkeling and a rock jump that you can get to after a bit of a coastal walk. You can book this with groups of up to 25 people. More info here

Sant Elm Tour (South West)

This tour starts at the furthest point south of Mallorca, Sant Elm.

It is located about two kilometers from Sa Dragonera island, which is called like that because the shape of the island resembles a dragon (with some fantasy ;). The island is currently uninhabited, but this was not always the case as there is a very old tower on it. We did not visit the island, but we saw it in the distance.

We did a sunset tour and snorkeled in a small bay where we also had a picnic. It was beautiful and the picnic was very nice. Sadly there were no caves or rock jumps, but it was very special to have a tour during sunset, as the water was calm and it was quite serene.

They also offer tours to the island where you can hike on the island. More info here.
