Palma Sailing Adventure

Mallorca has lots of options when it comes to enjoying the sea on a boat, but finding something that does not have that mass-tourism feel is hard.

Enter ‘‘The Sailing Adventure’’, a beautiful sailing cruise run by a lovely young couple that treat each guest with old-fashioned hospitality. They do several 4 hour tours a day, and we tried both the daytime and sunset option (sunset is a bit less than 4 hours).

The captain is Bryce, a Canadian man that sailed to Europe a few years ago on the 54 ft. yacht ‘Sy Sayang’ and now host sailing cruises. Bryce and his lovely wife welcomed us aboard and leaving the harbor, the cityscape gradually transformed into a silhouette against the vibrant sky. During the sunset sail we stopped for a swim and had the option of trying out the paddle boards. We had already paddle boarded on the daytime sail we did last year, so we opted to just swim and enjoy that magic sunset moment with a swim and the calm of the tiny waves lapping against the yacht.

Refreshed we climbed back aboard and the open bar prepared by Karin was a welcome addition, with refreshing drinks flowing freely, perfectly complementing the delicious tapas served on board.

Returning to the harbor, with the city lights twinkling in the distance, we felt completely dreamy but reconnected. A remarkable cruise amongst the cheap polyester diesel tours you can find all over the island. WIth only 7 other guests aboard, quality tapas and a personable captain and stewardess it was so calming we can’t wait to do this again!
