Wake up Zen with SUP Yoga

SUP yoga in the crystal clear waters of Mallorca’s east coast

If you are into yoga and you are in Mallorca, one of the must do activities is SUP Yoga. Combine your yoga with the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean and the sun rising out of the water in the morning and you have the ultimate, most blissful way of starting your day!

In general the mornings are without wind and the morning that I joined the early morning sun cast a gentle warmth on my shoulders as I arrived at the calm beach of Cala Bona, which translates to Beautiful Cove. I was joining a SUP Yoga class with LadyBoaty, an all-female company whose love for the sea was palpable from the moment I was greeted. Our instructor Gina, with an infectious passion for the ocean, guided our small group through the basics of balancing on a paddle board, which is remarkably easy as they are very big.

The yoga practice began with gentle stretches, the instability of the board adding a new dimension to my balance, forcing me to be completely present in the moment. The morning air was still fresh, the water pleasantly refreshing and the morning sun made the sky nice and orange.

Moving through the asanas, there was a profound sense of connection – to my body, to the board and to the vast expanse of the Mediterranean. During a downward-facing dog, I found myself gazing at the clear water, watching small fish dart beneath me, a truly unique and mesmerizing perspective.

As the session drew to a close with a Savasana, I lay on my board, my fingers trailing in the cool water, the sun kissing my face. It was more than just a yoga class; it was a beautiful, immersive experience that harmonized mind, body, and the stunning natural beauty of Mallorca. The ladies of LadyBoaty had not just led a class; they had shared a piece of their paradise with me.
